Stroud CC 3rd XI vs Cam CC 3rd XI – Saturday 13th May
CAM, on winning the toss, decided to field first in this division one match. Cam’s bowling attack consisting almost entirely of under 15 players performed consistently well throughout the Stroud innings.
Will Payne and Jon Hayward opened the attack then Henry McCubbin and Joe Grey followed. George Thomas and Andy Price also bowled well. Cam’s bowlers took wickets at regular intervals so Stroud were restricted to 142 for 6 in their innings.
Will, Henry and Jon all took wickets and showed good bowling actions and much promise while Joe bowled accurate leg breaks.
Cam began their innings slowly losing Dave Cotterell and Matt Tipper relatively early but Rich Collett and Andy Price then began a good partnership which took Cam to well past one hundred.
Jon Hancock then joined Rich and took Cam close to victory. Cam’s victory was achieved in the 38th over for the loss of five wickets.
Rich Collett scored 65 not out, whilst Andy Price and Jon Hancock made good contributions too.
A good win for Cam who fielded a good mix of youth and experience!
